Insurance benefits advisors (brokers, agents or benefits consultants) can offer a customer advice and guidance as the customer selects the benefits and insurance provider most appropriate for the customer's needs. Fort Dearborn Life Insurance Company recognizes the important role these professionals play in the sale of our products and services and as a result, offers them a variety of compensation programs (cash or otherwise). Our compensation policy includes the following:
- Unless directed otherwise by the customer, all insurance policies on which Fort Dearborn Life Insurance Company pays base commissions are also eligible for consideration under other incentive programs.
- For those insurance policies where no base commissions are payable, inclusion in other incentive programs is only allowed with customer consent. A customer's decision in this regard will not impact the premium rate charged for their policy.
- For any customer paying a fee to a benefits advisor in connection with the purchase of insurance from Fort Dearborn Life Insurance Company, we require the customer's written consent before we will pay any commissions, overrides or incentives to the benefits advisor.
